Smuggler's Run is an off-road driving game, so of course a lot of attention has been put into making sure the cars interact extremely well with the usually bumpy terrain. That's what made the Smokey and The Bandit films such hits, and Rockstar Games is teaming up with Angel Studios to deliver a game based solely on the concept of getting illegal items from point A to point B. There's nothing quite as exciting as smuggling things across borders.

It basically does this until it becomes impossible to play.Ah, contraband. Over time the courses get longer, the speed get faster, and the placement of Coors and obstacles becomes more erratic. The faster you go, the more points you earn. You get points for collecting Coors cans and for executing turns on backcountry roads. The goal of the game is simple enough: collect all the Coors you can while avoiding obstacles. Except unlike in the movie, your Trans-Am can jump at will and scoop up Coors off the road at highway speeds.

You are The Bandit, and your avatar is an 8-bit rendering of a black 1977 Trans-Am. Gameplay We followed the norms of the era, where (being generous here) gameplay is based loosely around the narrative of the source material. At Spacebar it sits in line with a Galaga and Ms. No LCD's, no 3D, no high resolution graphics or audio. One goal with the project was to make something that would not look out of place in an 80's era arcade. It took a couple years from start to finish, mainly due to life and work schedules So, we set out to correct history's mistake by making our own custom new-but-old Bandit cabinet. Well, sometimes you just try and cram all the things you love into a single project that is why :-). And besides, if Krull deserved an arcade translation then surely Smokey and the Bandit does.
